Front Desk Attendant

Job Summary:

The Front Desk Attendant serves as the first point of contact for customers and visitors at the Rochester Ice Center. This role is essential in providing excellent customer service, managing front desk operations, and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all patrons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome customers and visitors with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Answer and direct phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about the facility’s services and events.
  • Handle customer check-ins and registrations for public skates, hockey games, figure skating shows, and other events.
  • Process payments for admission, rentals, and other services using the facility's point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk area.
  • Help coordinating rink activities and events.
  • Address customer complaints or issues, escalating them to the appropriate supervisor if necessary.
  • Monitor and manage the front entrance to ensure the safety and security of the facility.
  • Provide support to other staff members as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a customer service or front desk role preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of ice rink operations and activities.
  • Experience with scheduling and coordinating events.
  • Familiarity with safety and security protocols in a public facility.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The work environment is primarily indoors, with occasional exposure to cold temperatures near the ice rink.
  • The Front Desk Attendant will be expected to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the facility's schedule and events.

Pay Rate:

  • $16.00 - $19.00 based on experience.

Rink Guard

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the ice rink during public skating sessions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons.
  • Enforce safety rules and guidelines, including proper skating etiquette and behavior.
  • Patrol the ice rink to identify and address any hazards, such as uneven ice or debris.
  • Provide first aid assistance and respond to medical emergencies as needed.
  • Communicate with rink staff and management to report any issues or concerns.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the ice rink to deter unsafe behavior and promote a positive atmosphere.
  • Assist with the setup and teardown of equipment and barriers before and after public skating sessions.
  • Provide excellent customer service and address patron inquiries and concerns in a friendly and professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in ice skating or ice rink supervision preferred.
  • Strong skating skills and ability to skate confidently on ice.
  • Knowledge of ice rink safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CPR and first aid certification is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with children and beginners.
  • Ability to provide basic skating instruction and assistance.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency response procedures.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires physical activity, including skating, standing, and walking on ice.
  • Work will primarily be indoors on the ice rink during public skating sessions.
  • The Ice Guard will be expected to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the facility's schedule and events.

Pay Rate

  • $15.00 per hour
